I am a missionary, plain a simple. I went on my first short-term mission with my church’s youth group back in 2006. That first trip would spark a passion for missions that would follow me over the next eight years. I would go on seven short-term missions over the years, spend a summer leading short-term missions in Ohio, and spend my senior year of college organizing and advocating for short-term missions. Through these mission experiences and various volunteer positions my passion for serving and telling others about Christ’s salvation grew and I am now pursuing missions as a career.
I could keep on sharing stories about the past, but you would end up reading through a novel of words. So instead, let me share a little bit about present day. Currently, I am on a two-year mission to Guadalajara, Mexico with an awesome organization called TEAM. I am working with the missionaries there and serving amongst a community of believers in various house-church groups. I am also serving at an orphanages and a community center, teaching kids and sharing Christ’s love with them. I have also partnered with another ministry in the city and I go downtown once a week to build relationships with the lost people living on the streets. Finally, I am starting an art ministry within the city, hoping to share the Good News through creative arts and other outreach events.
I could also keep on sharing about my current mission work, but then you would have to read through part two of the novel! Other than missions work, one of my big interests is art! I graduated from Taylor University with a BA in Three-Dimensional Studio Art (that’s sculpture!) in 2013. I am very excited to use my passion for art with my passion for missions! Some of my other interests are movies, Frisbee, board games, and dance music among other things!
The title “Seeking Not Hiding” comes from two Bible verses I really enjoy:
Proverbs 3:6– “Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
I am seeking God’s will for my life daily. I have no fears once I have trusted my life into God’s hands.
Matthew 5:14-16– “You are the light of the world-like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives lights to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
I am no longer hiding my faith from the world. Instead I want it to shine brightly for all the world to see. And I am seeking those who are lost and guiding them towards salvation.
To conclude, welcome to my blog! This will be a place where I will share thoughts about my faith, missions, and post some updates from the mission field in Mexico and beyond! Hope you’ll join me in this incredible journey through life!
